ANU class 11.8.11
For the Thursday 11 August class we used the reference photo below. There are many subtle colours to be borrowed and not much to change to make a composition.

Drawn with the figure within one ripple circle and with a larger circle within the rocks. First washes have a variety of colours reflecting sky and looking through the water to rocks and sand.

First washes of rocks also have a variety of colour as underpaint.

Second layer creates different shapes and variation in facets of the rocks.

Second layer of paint over water provides edges of ripples - different colours dropped in creating different reflections to sky or surroundings.

Extra simple passages to sculpt rocks. Figure painted simply with warm orange to purply red skin tones.

Finishing with a few dabs to reduce some of the surrounding white paper highlights to emphasise the lights on the figure.
