Below is the photo used for reference for a painting from the locality of 6 mile on the Tantawangalo River in the Bega Valley

The drawing picks out the main items and mask covers the logs, trees and twigs. First washes provide the colours of the lights.

Some mid tones are applied allowing edges and soft blending to create the complexity of the foliage.

First darks create the fern shapes and ground shadows.

Balance of darks painted with rocks getting warm and cool colours.

Tree trunks get colour mixtures with sharp brush providing lines, dots and ticks in contrast to the broad shapes.

Look at later for further adjustments.

Added a dark twig stage left to balance foreground tree. Added more ground litter marks, rubbed out pencil, matted and signed.  Suitable title "Dry Creek Bed, 6 Mile, Tantawangalo"
