ANU class 6.10.11

Two portraits are painted in this session - the first outdoors and backlit from the left and the second backlit from the window to the right.

The first has the hands providing the composition with elements of jewelery and dark glasses providing design components for the painting.

 First wash has warm and cooler skin tones.

Hair and jumper painted loosely to create an interesting outline.

Some darks applied to the first washes

More darks for the hair and glasses and a bit of pushing and pulling to get closer to a likeness of "Jane"

The next painting has the light is from a window over the right shoulder with a high back chair to provide a circular splash of background

First washes create main looping shapes.

Second skin tone patches of darker colour.

More darks and again some pushing of the earlier marks into shape to create a closer likeness.  This is done discreetly to still obtain a fresh painting with some inaccuracies but to try and arrive at a painterly image of "Lucie".
