QAS June 2011 demonstration painting
Below is the reference photo we used for the June painting. Melbourne rain.

The drawing uses the composition of ground diagonals and Flinders St station disappearing into the mist to the right. First wash provides a warmer glow to this mist right hand side of the building. Further washes wet in wet.

Building painted simply but provides an impression of the various complex facets, windows and domes. Some yellowy reflections represented on the road.

Ground level items (cars, shops, signs) painted with their reflections, all the time adding clean water to soften some edges.

Masking fluid removed after a few more pavers are painted to describe the puddled footpath. Brollies painted with strong colour leaving the lights toward the sky. Varying shapes create the people groups.

Reflections of the people and brollies painted to leave the footpath patterns.

Added a few more road reflections, extra colour to umbrellas and clothes (to bring them closer), more architectural details (not too much!). Will sign after matting - "Flinders St Rain".
