QAS March 2010 demonstration painting

"we will be changing arrangement of the players to create a better composition i.e. moving the wicket further to the left, enlarging the size of the batsman, reducing the spectator sizes."

"careful drawing to fit the frame, masked entire figures, first washes relating to sunshine from the right"

"mixture of wet in wet and edges and various colours to depict spectators in the distance (sorry about poor photo!)"

 "hoarding is actually red/purple over A.S. Tasman Blue lettering.  Turf area uses A.S. Green Gold with warm yellow already used.  Schminke 'yellow green' (creates a sunny mix) is a favourite of mine for sports turf"

"First applied cool mix to all shaded areas and immediately followed with warm mix where the ground light is reflected"

"Flesh colours using Cobalt, Bright Red, Gamboge mixture and additional colour touches to the limited pallette - May Green, Orange, Ultramarine, Viridian.  Matted and signed to complete the design."
