QAS January 2012 demonstration painting

Below is the reference photo we used.  A Batemans Bay beach with water reflections and gentle lap of waves.

 First washes over drawing with people masked out.

Second wash provides a glaze for the sky colour.  Some reflections are dropped into the wet beach colour.

Tree foliage painted in one pass allowing colours to merge to create a hint of bluey green, warms and purple shadowed areas.

Darker wash on water area keeps to the patterns of breaking wave and reflections.

Few more dabs for rocks and beach litter and a few seagulls to finish.
